Wilson's Disease | a genetic disorder of copper metabolism that creates a copper toxicity and results in neurologic symptoms such as tremors, impaired speech, inappropriate behaviors, and personality changes |
Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) | slow, progressive disease of CNS, results in memory loss, muscle spasms, & death several years after infection with measles virus EEG: periodic bursts of 1-2 s high voltage sharp & slow wave, at 5-15s interval |
Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) | Spongiform encephalopathy caused by prion Rapidly progressive dementia associated with ataxia (cerebellum involved) and startle myoclonus (involuntary contractions of muscle with minimal stimulation) leading to death. Sharp periodic waves on EEG |
