| Organism | Any living thing |
| Cell | The basic unit of structure and function in living things |
| Unicellular | Made of a single cell |
| multicellular | Made up of many cells |
| stimulus | A change in the environment that makes an organism react |
| response | An action or change in behavior from a stimulus |
| spontaneous generation | Mistaken idea that living things come from nonliving sources |
| homeostasis | The condition of an organism's environment will stay the same even if changes on the outside environment |
| Species | A group of similar organisms that can mate and produce offspring |
| Classification | grouping things based on their similarities |
| Genus | A taxonomic category that names a group of similar organisms |
| Binomial Nomenclature | A unique scientific name indicating it's genus and species |
| Taxonomy | The scientific study of how living things are classified |
| Domain | The most basic level of organization in classification |
| Virus | A tiny nonliving particle that enters and reproduces inside a living cell |
| Host | An organism that provides a source of energy and a suitable environment for a virus to live. |
| Vaccine | A substance used in vaccination that consists of pathogens that have been weakened or killed that trigger the bodies immune system |
| Bacteria | Single celled organism that lacks a nucleus; Prokaryote |
| Protist | A Eukaryotic Organism that cannot be classified as an animal, plant, or fungus |
