autotroph an organism that makes its own food through photosynthesis: a plant
herbivore an organism that eats plants only, e.g. cows, horses
carnivore an organism that eats meat only, e.g. cats, dogs, wolves
omnivore an organism that eats both plants and meat, e.g. humans, bears
detrivore an organism that feeds off dead organisms and helps to break materials down, e.g. bacteria, worms
