Safety Symbols

Safety Goggles | Always wear safty goggles to protect eyes during chemical, flammible, heat activities. |
Lab Apron | Wear a lab apron to protect skin and clothes from injury |
Plastic Gloves | Wear disposabe gloves to protect yourself from contact with harmful chemicals or organisms. Keep hands away from face, dispose gloves when done. |
Breakage | Handle breakable materials with care. |
Heat-Resistant Gloves | Use hand protection when handling hot materials. Dont touch hot objects with bare hands. |
Heating | Use clamp or tongs to hold hot object. |
Sharp Object | Always direct sharp edges and points away from yourself and others. |
Electric Shock | Avoid possibility of electric shock. Never use equipment around water. |
Corrosive Chemical | This symbol indicates the presence of an acid or other corrosive chemical. Avoid getting chemicals on skin,eyes, and clothing. |
Poison | Dont let any poisonous chemical get on your skin, dotn inhale vapor. Wash hands when finshed. |
Flames | Tie back loose hair and clothing, put on safety goggles when working with fire. |
No Flames | Flammable materials may be present, make sure there are no exposed sources of heat present. |
Physical Safety | This activty involves movement. Use caution to avoid injuring yourself or others |
Animal Safety | Treat live animals with care to avoid injuring the animals or yourself. Working with preserved animals still requires caution. |
Plant Safety | Aviod touching poisonous plants or plants with thorns. |
Disposal | Dispose chemicals and other materials when done. |
Hand washing | Wash hands thoroughly when done with activity. Rinse well. |
