Atoms - Building blocks of matter
Elements - The different types of atoms C, H, O, N, P, and S are all examples
Molecules - two or more atoms bonded together
The lines in molecule diagrams - Represent bonds
chemical symbol - one or two letters that represent an element
H - Hydrogen
O - Oxygen
C - Carbon
N - Nitrogen
P - Phosphorus
S - Sulfur
CHONPS - The 6 elements most important in living things (Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Sulfur)
Number of bonds carbon can form - four
When in doubt - pick carbon!

The numbers in chemical formulas - Written after the element they refer to
H2O - water
O2 - oxygen Because it contains two oxygens, it's called molecular oxygen The form oxygen takes as a gas
