Biodiversity - Usually used synonymously with species diversity
Types of biodiversity - genetic, species, ecosystem
genetic diversity - a measure of the genetic variation among individuals in a population
species diversity - The number of different species in the biospheres
ecosystem diversity - the variety of ecosystems within a given region
Significance of biodiversity - Increases resilience The more biodiversity there is, the more likely life is to survive
resilience - the ability to adapt
agriculture - farming
Monoculture - farming strategy in which large fields are planted with a single crop, year after year
Risks of monoculture - All of the crops are susceptible to the same diseases, so there is low resilience
