| Controlled experiment | Investigation in which one variable is tested against a set of constants |
| Homeostasis | Stable internal environment |
| Qualitative data | Information gathered from an experiment that involves descriptive characteristics such as color or texture |
| Quantitative data | Information gathered from an experiment that involves counting or numerical measurements |
| Asexual reproduction | A single organism producing offspring identical to itself |
| Sexual reproduction | Cells from two parents uniting to form a new organism |
| Observation | Noting events or processes in an orderly manner |
| Bias | Subjective point of view for or against something |
| Science | Use of evidence to devise testable explanations for natural phenomena |
| Stimulus | Signal to which an organism responds |
| Inference | Conclusion based on evidence and reasoning |
| Hypothesis | Testable scientific explanation for a specific question |
