Dependent variable | Experimental parameter that changes in response to another |
Controlled experiment | Investigation in which one variable is tested against a set of constants |
Homeostasis | Stable internal environment |
Qualitative data | Information gathered from an experiment that involves descriptive characteristics such as color or texture |
Quantitative data | Information gathered from an experiment that involves counting or numerical measurements |
Asexual reproduction | A single organism producing offspring identical to itself |
Sexual reproduction | Cells from two parents uniting to form a new organism |
Observation | Noting events or processes in an orderly manner |
Bias | Subjective point of view for or against something |
Science | Use of evidence to devise testable explanations for natural phenomena |
Stimulus | Signal to which an organism responds |
Inference | Conclusion based on evidence and reasoning |
Hypothesis | Testable scientific explanation for a specific question |
Control group | Group in which the independent variable is not changed |
