Why do scientists use Latin? Because Latin words and their meanings will never change.
What is a biologist? A scientist who studies living things.
What is a botanist? A biologist who studies plants.
What are some helpful or interesting things that botanists do? Study plants that are used to made medicines and cure diseases. Experiment with plants to help crops grow faster and stronger. Help farmers improve the food we eat. Study plants in outer space to see how gravity affects plants.
What do vascular plants have that nonvascular plants do not have? Tubes insides the plant that transport fluids, like water.
What are spermatophytes? Seed plants, or plant that produce seeds.
Can you name one? A pine tree
What are sporophytes? Spore plants, or plants that make spores instead of seeds
Can you name a plant that is a sporophyte? A fern
What is botany? The study of plants
What is biology? The study of living things or life
