Human Thermoregulation Human Temperature Control
Hypothalamus Part of the brain that controls temperature
Endothermic Warm-Blooded
Exothermic Cold-Blooded
Glucoregulation Sugar Control
Insulin A Chemical in the body that escorts glucose to "Fat Cells"
Glucagon A Chemical in the body that makes Glucose
Pancrease A organ that creates Insulin and Glucose to control sugar levels in the body
Diabetes Causes your body to not make enough insulin
Osmoregulation Water and Salt Concentration Control
Osmosis The movement of water in membranes
Hypotonic There is more water in the cell then outside of it, causing the cell to swell and burst
Isotonic The amount of water outside is equal to the amount of water outside of it
Hypertonic There is less water in the cell then outside of it, causing the cell to shrink and wrinkle
ADH A hormone that helps vessels get smaller and helps the kidneys control the amount of water and salt in the body
Homeostasis Everything in our body working together to create equilibrium
Hypothesis A educated guess to your research question
Active Transport Transport through the cells that require ATP due to molecules going from low concentration to high concentration
Passive Transport Transport through the cells that does not require extra energy to move from high concentration to low concentration
Hydrophilic Loves Water
Hydrophobic Hates Water
Aquaporin A channel in the Phospholipid Bilayer that transports water
Facilitated Passive Diffusion Molecules like water that require channels to travel through the cell
