Endocrine System

Definitions for the chapter

TermDefinition
Endocrine gland Ductless gland which release hormones directly into the blood stream
Exocrine gland Glands that carry secretions out of a duct
Gland A gland is a group of cells in an animals body that produces substances
Hormone A chemical messenger, usually a protein, produced by an endocrine gland and carried by the blood to another part of the body where it has a specific effect
Negative feedback When the increase of one hormone leads to the decrease of another hormone
