Scientific Method

Definitions for the chapter

Scientific Method Process of investigation where problems are identified and their explanations are tested by carrying out experiments
Biology The study of living things
Control Standard for comparison
Data Measurements/observations/information gathered from an experiment
Double blind Technique in which neither the tester nor the person being tested knows which samples are the drug or the placebo in drug trials
Hypothesis Educated guess based on observation
Placebo Control used in drug testing
Principle/Law A proven theory
Replicate(s) Make a duplicate of an experiment or procedure
Theory A supported hypothesis by years of experimentation
Ethics Refers to whether issues are right or wrong
Observation An unbiased accurate report of an event
