Reproductive System

TermDefinition
Reproductive System A system of organs and structures in the body that are responsible for producing and developing offspring.
Puberty A stage in development where a person's body begins to mature sexually and they become capable of reproduction.
Menstruation The monthly shedding of the uterine lining, which occurs in females who have reached reproductive age.
Ovulation The process by which an egg is released from the ovary and becomes available for fertilization.
Fertilisation The process by which a sperm cell and an egg cell combine to form a zygote, which develops into a fetus.
Contraception Methods used to prevent unintended pregnancy, such as barrier methods or hormonal contraception.
Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) An infection that is spread through sexual contact, such as genital herpes or chlamydia.
HIV/AIDS A viral infection that attacks the immune system, leading to AIDS, which is a collection of symptoms that occur when the immune system is severely compromised.
Gender Identity A person's internal sense of their own gender, which may or may not match the sex they were assigned at birth.
Consent Agreement given freely and voluntarily by a person to engage in sexual activity.
Cell The smallest structural and functional unit of an organism, which is typically microscopic and consists of cytoplasm and a nucleus enclosed in a membrane.
