Human Reproduction

QuestionAnswer
Glands These add liquid to the sperm. The sperm and liquid together is called semen.
Sperm Duct Carries the sperm from the testes to the urethra.
Epididymis Sperm are stored here. If not released they are broken down and taken back into the bloodstream.
Testes Produce the sperm cells.
Scrotum The skin that surrounds the testicles on the outside of the body to keep the sperm at a lower temperature.
Urethra This tube joins from the sperm duct and through the penis. Semen and urine leave the penis through this tube.
Fallopian Tube This is the tube that the egg travels down to get to the womb. Fertilisation usually happens here.
Uterus This is were the fertilised egg would implant and develop into a foetus.
Ovaries These release the egg cells.
Vagina This is a muscular tube that opens to the outside of the body.
Cervix This holds the foetus in place if the egg has been fertilised. It is a muscle that closes the top of the vagina.
Female Mentsrual Cycle 28 days
Day 1-5 Menstruation begins and end, the lining is removed from the body
Day 6-13 The lining is repaired
Day 14 Ovulation- Egg is released from the ovary
