Plants

TermDefinition
Photosynthesis a process in which green plants make their own food
Chlorophyll a green chemical used to trap sunlight
Materials that go into photosynthesis: carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight
Materials that come out of photosynthesis: Glucose (sugar) and oxygen
Glucose a sugar that is the plant's food
Leaf where photosynthesis occurs
Roots anchor the plant into the ground and soak up water and nutrients from the soil
Stems provide support and act like a straw to transport water to the rest of the plant
Flowers reproductive part of the plant
Pollination a reproductive process when pollen is moved from the stamen to the pistil
Stamen male part of the plant
Pistil female part of the plant
