What does a cell membrane do? Controls what enters & leaves the cell
What are mitochondria? Where aerobic respiration takes place
What are ribosomes? Where proteins are made
What is chloroplast (plant cells only)? Site of photosynthesis in plants
What does the cell wall do (plant cells only)? Strengthens plant cells, made of cellulose
What does the vacuole do (plant cells only)? Stores water & nutrients (cell sap)
What is a 'eukaryotic cell'? a complex cell that has a nucleus e.g. plant or animal cells
What is a 'prokaryotic cell'? a cell that does NOT have a nucleus e.g. bacteria
What is plasmid a small ring of DNA found only in bacterial cells
