Levels of Organization in Ecosystems & Competition
| Term | Definition |

| Ecology | The study of the relationship between organism and their environment. |
| Niche | The role an organism and how it interacts with other organisms and its environment. |
| Habitat | The place where an organism lives in order to obtain its resources (food, water, shelter, etc.) |
| Species | The individual living organism that can reproduce to make more of its kind. |
| Population | All the individuals of a given species in a specific area/region at a certain time that compete for food, water, space, and mates. |
| Communities | Involve may types of interactions among the different populations in a specific area/region at a certain time. |
| Ecosystem | All the biotic and abiotic factors and is one or more communities in an area. |
| Biomes | Are individual ecosystems grouped together according to the climate, the vegetation, and characterized by adaptations of organisms to that particular environment. |
