Threats to Biodiversity

Deforestation The removal of trees faster than forests can replace themselves.
Over-exploitation use or extraction of a resource until it is depleted (ex: overhunting)
Climate change long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns due to burning fossil fuels and more greenhouse gases to trap heat around the globe
Pollution introducing dangerous chemicals to air, land and water
Habitat destruction The loss of habitat
Invasive species species that enter new ecosystems and multiply, harming native species and their habitats
Overpopulation large population that can not be sustained by their environment or resources in the long term.
Endangered species any species in danger of going extinct in a specific area or worldwide.
Extinction s when all members of a particular group die.
