Identity Theft

| Spyware | Software that is secretly or surreptitiously installed into an information system to gather information on individuals or organizations without their knowledge |
| Dumpster Diving | a technique used to retrieve information that could be used to carry out an attack or gain access to a computer network from disposed items. |
| Firewall | a network security device that monitors and filters incoming and outgoing network traffic based on an organization's previously established security policies |
| Forgery | a message related attack against a cryptographic digital signature scheme. |
| Fraud | the crime committed via a computer with the intent to corrupt another individual's personal and financial information stored online. |
| Identity Theft | happens when someone steals your personal information to commit fraud. |
| Peer-to-Peer(P2P) | This fraud can be the result of a hacked account, a compromised card number or a stolen device. |
| Phishing | when someone deliberately tries to obtain your username and password to use them in a malicious way. |
| Shoulder Surfing | where someone tries to steal confidential information by spying over their target's shoulder. |
| Snail Mail | letters or messages that are not sent by email, but in the mail |
| Scams | when someone steals your personal information to commit fraud. |
| Anti- Virus Software | a program designed to detect and remove viruses and other kinds of malicious software from your computer or laptop. |
| Better Business Bureau | a private organization that provides the public with information on businesses and charities. |
| Federal Trade Commission | enforces federal consumer protection laws that prevent fraud, deception and unfair business practices. |
| Equifax | an American credit information company |
| TransUnion | an American consumer credit reporting agency. |
| Experian | a multinational data analytics and consumer credit reporting company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. |
| Internal Revenue Service | the revenue service for the United States federal government, which is responsible for collecting U.S. federal taxes and administering the Internal Revenue Code |
| Solicitations | the act of asking for or trying to obtain something from someone. |
| Spam | irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the internet to a large number of recipients. |
