Conservation
| Term | Definition |

| conservation | the act of saving or protecting the Earth's resources |
| pollution | putting harmful materials into soil, air, or water |
| nonrenewable resource | a resource that cannot be replaced quickly i.e. coal |
| renewable resource | a resource that can be replaced quickly i.e. sunlight |
| reservoir | a storage area built by people that stores water |
| water footprint | the amount of water that a person uses or that is used for that person's benefit |
| climate | the average weather in an area over many years |
| weather | how the atmosphere is at a specific place and time including the temperature, wind, sunshine, precipitation, etc. |
| erosion | material like rocks and dirt being taken away by wind, water, and other forces. |
| weathering | breaking rocks into smaller pieces |
| ozone layer | a blanket of gas that protects the earth from getting too much radiation |
| deposition | material like rocks and dirt landing in a new place |
