| Genetics | the genetic properties or features of an organism, characteristic, etc |
| Genes | (in informal use) a unit of heredity which is transferred from a parent to offspring and is held to determine some characteristic of the offspring. |
| Genotype | the genetic constitution of an individual organism. |
| Phenotype | the set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment. |
| Dominant | a dominant trait or gene. |
| Recessive | a trait that is expressed only when genotype is homozygous |
| Heredity | Heredity refers to the genetic heritage passed down by our biological parents. It's why we look like them |
| Alleles | The letters used on a punnet square |
| Homozygous | The presence of two identical alleles at a particular gene locus. |
| Heterozygous | The presence of two different alleles at a particular gene locus |
