| homozygous | an organism with two identical alleles for a trait |
| heterozygous | an organism that has two different alleles for a trait |
| allele | the different forms of a gene |
| genotype | indicates the alleles that the organism has inherited regarding a particular trait |
| phenotyope | the actual visible trait of the organism |
| codominance | two alleles are expressed to an equal degree |
| incomplete dominance | a form of Gene interaction in which both alleles of a gene at a locus are partially expressed |
| law of independant assortment | the alleles of two or more different genes get sorted into gametes independently of one another |
| law of segragation | when forming sex cells the paired alleles seperate so that each egg or sperm only carries 1 form of the allele |
| law of dominance | when there is one trait that is stronger or more dominant than the other |
| hybrid | heterozygous: an organism that has two different alleles for a trait |
