Cell | A tiny thing that makes up a animal or plant. |
Prokaryotic Cell | Single-celled organisms that have no nucleus, i.e., bacteria |
Eukaryotic cell | Cells that have a nucleus/DNA, most are multicellular (exclusions apply) |
Cell Membrane | Outer skin of a cell |
Cytoplasm | Jelly-like fluid found inside a cell |
Organelles | Organs inside a cell |
Nucleus | Control center of a cell |
Mitochondria | Organelles that releases energy of the cell |
Ribosomes | Organelles that makes proteins. Also the smallest organelle. |
Endoplasmic Reticulum | Makes and transports proteins. Smooth ones don have anything on them, but rough ones have ribosomes all over them. |
Golgi Complex | The cell's UPS, FedEx, or EVA Air Cargo. Packages/transports proteins. |
Vacuole | Stores water. It's unusually big in plant cells. |
Lysosome | Produces and ejects enzymes and waste for digestion. Like the pancreas of the cell. |
(only plants) Cell Wall | Provides support, shape, and structure for a plant. |
(Only Plants) Chloroplasts | Makes energy and oxygen from absorbing light. |
