TermDefinition
Cell A tiny thing that makes up a animal or plant.
Prokaryotic Cell Single-celled organisms that have no nucleus, i.e., bacteria
Eukaryotic cell Cells that have a nucleus/DNA, most are multicellular (exclusions apply)
Cell Membrane Outer skin of a cell
Cytoplasm Jelly-like fluid found inside a cell
Organelles Organs inside a cell
Nucleus Control center of a cell
Mitochondria Organelles that releases energy of the cell
Ribosomes Organelles that makes proteins. Also the smallest organelle.
Endoplasmic Reticulum Makes and transports proteins. Smooth ones don have anything on them, but rough ones have ribosomes all over them.
Golgi Complex The cell's UPS, FedEx, or EVA Air Cargo. Packages/transports proteins.
Vacuole Stores water. It's unusually big in plant cells.
Lysosome Produces and ejects enzymes and waste for digestion. Like the pancreas of the cell.
(only plants) Cell Wall Provides support, shape, and structure for a plant.
(Only Plants) Chloroplasts Makes energy and oxygen from absorbing light.
