Which nutrient provides the body with stored energy? Fats
Which nutrient is needed for repair and growth of cells and tissues? Protein
Cereals, pasta, breads, grains, vegetables and fruits are high in which nutrient? Carbohydrates
Which nutrients cushions our organs and insulates us (keeps us warm)? Fats
Eggs, meats, fish and nuts are high in which nutrient? Protein
Olive oil, butter, avocado, and nuts are all high in which nutrient? Fats
Which nutrients are needed for growth, proper body functioning and development and to keep our overall body healthy? vitamins and minerals
Which nutrient maintains our body temperature and helps us to digest our food? Water
What is a balanced diet? A diet that consists of a variety of foods that provides the body with the nutrients it needs in the right amounts?
What are the building blocks of proteins called? Amino Acids
Why is it important to have a balanced diet? To Prevent Malnutrition (this can lead to diseases depending on which nutrient a person is not consuming enough of)
What is respiration? a process where the cells take in oxygen and nutrients (food) to make energy (ATP) and release waste products which are carbon dioxide and water
What is required for respiration (reactants)? Oxygen and Food
What are the waste products of respiration? Carbon Dioxide and Water
