| Antibiotic Resistance | the ability of bacteria or other microbes to resist the effects of an antibiotic |
| Antibody | A protein molecule produced in response to a specific type of pathogen |
| Antigen | a toxin or other foreign substance that induces an immune response in the body, especially the production of antibodies |
| Antheroma | A buildup of plaque in your arteries |
| Cascade | A succession of stages |
| Causation | The capacity of one variable to influence another |
| Clotting | The series of chemical processes that occur in the body that leads to the formation of a clot |
| Correlation | A mutual relationship or connection between two or more things |
| Coronary thrombosis | A blockage of the flow of blood to the heart, caused by a blood clot in a coronary system |
| Disease | A disorder of structure or function |
| Fibrin | An insoluble protein present in blood plasma, from which fibrin is produced by the action of the enzyme thrombin |
| Human immunodeficiency virus | The virus that eventually results in a collection of symptoms called AIDS |
| Lysozyme | An enzyme that catalyzes the destruction of the cell walls of certain bacteria, occurring notably in tears and egg white |
| Memory Cell | A long-lived lymphocyte capable of responding to a particular antigen on its reintroduction, long after the exposure that prompted its production |
