.What is the Party’s reasoning for wanting to simplify their language? Why, specifically, are they so adamant about cutting out adjectives and adverbs? What purpose do words like that serve? if they simplify the language, less people will rebel because they wont have words to think about that relate to rebelling. adjectives and adverbs describe a noun. with no descriptions, things are boring and easily ignored.
12.According to Syme, how does the Party plan to eliminate thoughtcrime? get rid of words that are connected to rebelling and thoughtcrime. Cant conceive bad thoughts if there arent any in the language
13.Why does Winston think that Syme will undoubtedly be “vaporized?” hes too intelligent and doesnt have a filter (he could get in trouble by saying something to the wrong person)
14.Why is Parsons proud of his daughter? she brought home an 'ear trumpet' (to listen in homes) and shes a good spy. she and her brother lit a ladys skirt on fire for wrapping sausages in B.B's poster
15.How does the Party feel about sex and reproduction? they dont like it, especially with prostitutes
16.Why did the relationship between Winston and Katherine fail? she saw sex as a job, they couldnt have kids so the party separated them
