| clinical crown | the portion of the tooth that is visible in the oral cavity |
| anatomical crown | the portion of the tooth that is covered with enamel |
| fulcrum | finger rest used when an instrument or handpiece is used in the mouth |
| oral prophylaxis | the complete removal of calculus, debris and plaque from the teeth |
| exogenous | stains that develop from external source |
