| photosynthesis | the process by which plants use sunlight, water and carbon dioxide to make their own food. |
| chlorophyll | It is a green chemical in the leaves of plants. It absorbs sunlight. |
| glucose | It is the product of photosynthesis. It’s a sugar. |
| carbon dioxide | It’s a gas. Plants absorb it for photosynthesis. |
| decomposition | living material breaks into parts. (example: minerals, liquids) |
| habitat | the place where living things live. They have different quantities of light and water. They have different climates and types of soil. |
| ecosystem | the interactions between living things and nonliving things in a habitat. |
