Intrinsic Muscles of The Hand

TermDefinition
Flexion Thumb bends medially along palm and fingers bend anteriorly.
Extension Thumb points laterally and fingers move posteriorly.
Lumbricals Flex fingers at metacarpophalangeal joints, but extend at interphalangela joints.
Palmar Interossei Adducts Fingers.
Dorsal Interossei Abduct (diverge) Fingers.
Abductor Digiti Minimi Abducts little finger.
Flexor Digiti Minimi Brevis Flexes little finger.
Opponens Digiti Minimi Helps in opposition.
Abductor Pollicis Brevis Abducts Thumb.
Flexor Pollicis Brevis Flexes thumb.
Opponens Pollicis Oppostion of thumb.
Adductor Pollicis Adducts and helps to oppose thumb.
