| fungi | a eukaryotic organism including molds, mushrooms, and yeasts. |
| molecule | groups of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds |
| plasmid | circular pieces of DNA found in bacteria |
| microorganism | a small living thing that can only be seen with a microscope |
| prokaryote | a unicellular organism that lacks a nucleus |
| spore | a tiny cell that is used by fungi for reproduction |

| DNA | contains the genetic information that makes up the chromosomes |
