General muscles and there functions on the rat. Meant for the disection course.
| Term | Function |

| Bicep | Flex lower arm |
| Pronator | Rotate palm or bottom of the foot downward |
| Supinator | Rotate palm or bottom of foot upward |
| Retractor | Move an appendege backward |
| Protractor | Move an appendege forward |
| Adductor | Move an appendege toward the midline of the body |
| Abductor | Move an appendege away from the midline of the body |
| Flexor | close the angle of the joint |
| Extensor | open the angle of a joint |
| Insertion | The end of the muscle attatched to the bone that moves during a contraction |
| Origin | The end attatched to the bone that does not move during a contraction |
| Tricep | Extend lower arm |
| Trapezius | move scapula dorsally |
| Latisimuss dorsi | Moves the humerus dorscaudally |
| External oblique | compress and retain viscera and acts with rectus abdominus to form body wall |
| Pectoralis Major | Draw a forelimb toward the chest (adduction) |
| Rectus Abdominus | Compress abdominal wall and suport viscera |
| Gluteas Maxius | Abduct thigh |
| Gastrocnemius | Extends the foot |
