| Term | Definition |

| Endangered Species | In danger of extinction |
| Endemic Species | native to a particular place and ONLY found there |
| Keystone Species | crucial to the functioning of the ecosystem; many depend on them |
| Exotic Species | not native to a particular area |
| Indicator Species | organism whos presence, absence, or abundance reflects on the conditions of the environment |
| Extinct Species | species that no longer exists |
| Native Species | normally live and thrives in a particular area |
| Invasive Species | species that are NOT native and damage the ecosystem |
