Genetics Study of genetic heredity
Inheritance Passing genetic information from parent to offspring
Allele Expression of a phenotypic traits in a gene
Dominant trait Inerited characteristic from parent to offspring that is pheotypically represented. Exmaple: TT or Tt
Recessive trait inherited characteristic from parent to offspring that is expressed by two recessive alleles of a gene. Example: pp or tt
Homozygous Two identical copies of an alleles of a gene. Example: PP or RR
Heterozygous Two alleles with different variation of a genetic trait. Example: Pp or Tt or Bb. In complete dominance the dominant trait is expressed
Genotype Genetic make-up of an organism. Gg or GG or gg
Phenotype Genetic physical expression of a gene. Example: Brown eyes, Brown hair, Blue eyes
Mendel Father of genetics who established the basic laws of heredity.
