| Inheritance | Passing genetic information from parent to offspring |
| Allele | Expression of a phenotypic traits in a gene |
| Dominant trait | Inerited characteristic from parent to offspring that is pheotypically represented. Exmaple: TT or Tt |
| Recessive trait | inherited characteristic from parent to offspring that is expressed by two recessive alleles of a gene. Example: pp or tt |
| Homozygous | Two identical copies of an alleles of a gene. Example: PP or RR |
| Heterozygous | Two alleles with different variation of a genetic trait. Example: Pp or Tt or Bb. In complete dominance the dominant trait is expressed |
| Genotype | Genetic make-up of an organism. Gg or GG or gg |
| Phenotype | Genetic physical expression of a gene. Example: Brown eyes, Brown hair, Blue eyes |
| Mendel | Father of genetics who established the basic laws of heredity. |
