Ecology Study of interactions among organisms and their environment
Biotic Living things in an environment
Abiotic Non-living things in an environment
Habitat The place in which an organism lives
Climate Average weather conditions over a long period of time
Succession Natural gradual changes in the types of species that live in an area.
Primary Succession When organisms move into new environments where nothing already lives.
Pioneer Species The first species to move into an area.
Secondary Succession Organisms will start to regrow in an ecosystem that has been severely disrupted by fire, construction, or other change.
Climax Community A community of plants that is stable.
