What does haploid mean? Contains one set of chromosomes
What cells are diploid? All cells except gametes (and red blood cells)
What is the male sex cell in plants called? Pollen
Where is the male gamete made in plants? Anther
What is the male gamete in animals called? Sperm
Where is the male gamete made in animals? Testes
What is the female sex cells in plants called? Ovules
What is the female sex cells in animals called? Ova(Eggs)
Where is the female gamete made in both plants & animals? Ovary
What is fertilisation? When the nuclei of the two haploid gametes fuse.
What is formed in fertilisation? A diploid zygote.
What does a zygote do? Divides by mitosis to form an embryo.
