| Term | Definition |

| Metabolism | A Series of chemical reactions that convert energy from one form to another, allow all living things to function. |
| Reproduction | Creation of offspring either sexually when 2 parents' genetic code is combined or asexually when one parent produces identical offspring. |
| Stimulus | All living things respond to signals in their environment or internally. A stimulus is something that is detected by your 5 senses that trigger a response. |
| Cells | The smallest unit of life and the basic building block of life. Unicellular meaning one cell, and multicellular meaning many cells. |
| Evolution | All species change over time in order to be able to survive in their environment. |
| Grow and Develop | All living things get larger and change over the course of a life cycle. |
| Homeostasis | All living things maintain a stable internal environment in response to their surroundings. |
| DNA | Genetic material that is passed down from parents to offspring, largely determines the appearance and some behaviors. |
