| Cell Cycle | A series of events that takes place in a cell as it grows and divides. |
| Asexual Reproduction | A mode of reproduction in which a new offspring is produced by a single parent. |
| Sexual Reproduction | A type of reproduction that involves a complex life cycle in which a gamete with a single set of chromosomes combines with another gamete to produce a zygote |
| Binary Fission | Asexual reproduction by a separation of the body into two new bodies. |
| Histone | Any of a group of basic proteins found in chromatin. |
| Chromatid | Each of the two threadlike strands into which a chromosome divides longitudinally during cell division. |
| Chromosomes | A threadlike structure of nucleic acids and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells, carrying genetic information in the form of genes. |
| Cytokinesis | The division of a cell at the end of mitosis or meiosis, bringing about the separation into two daughter cells. |
| Fragmentation | The process or state of breaking or being broken into small or separate parts. |
| Budding | A type of asexual reproduction in which a new organism develops from an outgrowth or bud due to cell division at one particular site. |
| Gamete | A reproductive cell of an animal or plant. |
| Zygote | A diploid cell resulting from the fusion of two haploid gametes |
| Germ Cell | The founder cells of all sexually reproducing organisms. |
| Somatic Cell | The cells in the body other than sperm and egg cells. |
| Haploid | A cell that contains a single set of chromosomes. |
| Diploid | A cell that contains two sets of chromosomes. |
| Homologous | Similar in position, structure, and evolutionary origin but not necessarily in function. |
| Autosomes Chromosomes | One of the numbered chromosomes, as opposed to the sex chromosomes. |
| Sex Chromosomes | A chromosome that differs from an ordinary autosome in form, size, and behavior. |
