Figurative Language
Use certain sentences to determine which Figurative Language the sentence includ
| Term | Definition |

| Metaphor | Makes a comparison between two unrelated things by that one thing is another thing, even though this isn't literally true. |
| Simile | Uses words like and as to make a comparison. |
| Personification | When human characteristics are given to something that is not human. |
| Onomatopoeia | A word that imitates the sound of the object or action it refers to. |
| Alliteration | When the beginning of words are repeated in close succession. |
| Hyperbole | A exaggeration that cannot be possibly true. |
| Idiom | An idiom is a phrase that, through general usage within society, has gained a meaning that is different from the literal meaning of the words. |
| Allusion | A figure of speech that makes a reference to a person, place, thing, book, or pop culture. |
