Down Syndrome -Change in Chromosome number -trisomy 21, all or part of an extra chromosome in 21. -1/800 births -small chin, round face, almond shaped eyes, shorter limbs, poor muscle tone, heart defects and recurrent ear infections. -Education=improved lifestyle
Turner Syndrome -Chromosome number -monosomy x, absence of sex chromosome -1/2500 girls -short stature, broad chest, low hairline, low-set ears, webbed necks, congenital heart disease, sterile -growth hormones to reach normal height
Klinefelter Syndrome -males have extra X sex chromosome -1/1000 males -small testes, reduced fertility. Variety of physical and mental problems
XXX syndrome -extra X chromosome in human female (trisomy x) -1/1000 females -no unusual physical features. Learning disablities, delayed speech, delayed development of motor skills -no treatment used
XYY condition -extra Y in male sex chromosome -increased growth velocity as a child, high risk of learning disabilities.
