Heart
| Describe the human heart? | Made up of Cardiac muscles and can start contraction without any stimulation from the nerves . The muscles are supplied by the special blood vessels called the coronary vessels. |
| Coronary Arteries and Coronary Vein | Supply oxygen and nutrients to the heart muscles. Carry carbon dioxide and waste material away from the heart muscles |
| 4 Chambers of heart | UC- Right Atria and Left Atria LC- Right and Left Ventricle |
| Division of Heart into left and Right side | Muscular Septum. Left side contain Oxygen and Right Side contains Carbon Dioxide |
| Functions of Parts of the Heart: Superior and Inferior Vena Cava | They carry deoxygenated blood from the body to the heart. |
| Pulmonary Artery | Carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs for the process of oxygenation. |
| Pulmonary Vein | Carries oxygenated blood from the Lungs to the heart. |
| Aorta | Carries oxygenated blood from the heart to the body organs |
| Right and Left Atrium | Receives Blood from the Atria and pumps it to the lungs/body. |
| Atrioventricular Valves (Bicuspid/ Tricuspid Valves) | Prevents backflow of blood from the pulmonary artery/aorta into the ventricles |
| Valve Tendons/ Chordae Tendineae | Strings that hold the valves flap in place |
| Double Circulation | It is a circulatory system which has two separate circuits 1) Pulmonary circuit 2) Systemic Circuit |
| Pulmonary Circulation [From the heart to the lungs and back} | Carries deoxygenated blood form the right ventricle to the lungs for oxygenation . From the lungs, it is brought back to the left atrium via pulmonary vein |
| Systemic Circulation [From the Heart to the body and back] | Oxygenated blood is pumped from the left ventricle to the rest of the body through the aorta. Deoxygenated blood is brought to the right atrium from the rest of the body via Superior and Inferior Vena Cava |
