| DNA | A complex molecule containing an organism's genetic information |
| nucleotide | A building block of DNA, consisting of a sugar, a base and a phosphate |
| complementary | fitting together |
| ribosome | site of protein synthesis |
| double helix | two strands of nucleotides wound about each other; structure of DNA |
| replicate | to repeat, to copy, or to duplicate |
| codon | A specific sequence of three bases on a strand of DNA or RNA that codes for an amino acid |
