What is mitosis? The division of the cell nucleus.
How many phases make up mitosis? What are they? Four: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase
How do prokaryotic cell reproduce differently from eukaryotic cells? In prokaryotes, the cell just seperates into two parts, but in eukaryotes, the cell ocurs in two stages.
What is cytokinesis? The division of the cytoplasm.
What is interphase? The time period of growth as one cell divides.
What is the third phase of mitosis? Anaphase
What phase of mitosis do the chromosomes line up across the center of the cell? Metaphase
What is a cell cycle? A series of events that cells undergo as they grow and divide.
What part of the cell cycle do the chromosomes replicate? The second part of interphase, or the S phase.
What part of the cell cycle happens right before mitosis begins? The last part of interphase, or G2 in which the cell produces organelles and molecules.
What must every cell copy before it divides? Its genetic information
What develops when chromosomes start cell division, and go into each two new cells? Two identical chromatids.
Where do chromatids attach? At the centrome, which is near the middle or ends of the chromatids.
What do chromosomes do? They carry genetic info. from one generation of cells to the next.(Each human cell has 46)
What are chromosomes made of? They're made up of DNA and proteins.
