| limiting factor | a resource that is so scarce that it limits the size of a population |
| carrying capacity | the largest population that an environment can support at any given time |
| resource | anything that can be used to take care of a need |
| biotic factors | living parts of an ecosystem |
| abiotic factors | nonliving parts of an ecosystem |
| ecosystem | a community of organisms and their abiotic environment |
| invasive species | a plant or animal that is not native to a specific location (an introduced species) and often causes damage to the environment |
| biosphere | part of Earth in which life exists including land, water, and air or atmosphere |
| community | All the different populations that live together in an area |
| population | group of individuals of the same species that live in the same area |
| organism | An individual living thing |
