Genetic Disorders

QuestionAnswer
Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) A genetic disease where people have an extra chromosome in set 21. This trisomy, doesn't really affect lifespan too much, with an average lifespan of 50 or 60 years. Most found in angalo-americans, this affects a childs looks and mental capacity.
Tay sachs A disease most commonly found amongst the jewish community, that kills the babies motor skills, sight, and hearing ability, untill the muslces no longer work. Children with Tay sachs, have a life span of 2 years. :[
Hemophilia A genetic blood clotting defecienct, where people with it, internally bleed with even the slightest bruise. Most commonly found in boys, it knows no limitations to race. People with it live a normal life span, if careful.
Color blindness People with colorblindness live a normal life span, color blindness is found on the X chromosome and most likely found in men because they lack another X and have a y, whereas women have two X's.
Albinism Albinism does not effect lifespan, and is found in many ethnicities but most found in people of African decent. It's a disease where people have an inability to create melanin which is the pigment in our skin, hair, and sometimes eyes. This affects vision
Klinefelter Is sex linked where males have an x. so its XXY. They have an average lifespan, and only symptom is sterilization, because the lack of testosterone.
Lesh-Nyhan A self-mutilating disease, which is sex-linked such as colorblindness, where it is most likely found in males. With treatment, they live in to the early to late 20's. Because it is so rare, there doesn't seem to be a specific race.
