Microscope

TermDefinition
Coarse focus The knob on the side of the microscope that moves the objective lens up and down. It is used in conjunction with the fine focus.
Fine focus The knob used to fine tune the focus on the specimen. It is also used to focus on various parts of the specimen.
Mirror Allows you to direct ambient light up through the hole in the stage and illuminate the specimen.
Eyepiece lens The lens at the top of the microscope that you look into.
Tube Takes the light and focuses it into the camera.
Objective lens Gathers light and focuses it to produce a real image.
Stage The horizontal surface upon which the slide is placed.
