Pre-Darwin, what did scientists think about the age and changes of the Earth Earth and all of it's forms of live had only been created a few thousand years ago. They thought that the planet and their living things had not changed since the beginning of earth.
What did Hutton contribute to understanding about how rocks form and the age of the earth? The layers of rock form slowly. The rocks, mountains and valleys are shaped by the atmosphere over time. He proposed the earth was much more than a few thousand years old.
What did Lyell contribute to understanding of how Earth changed in the past? He explained that the processes occurring now have shaped earth's geological features over time. The processes of the earth millions of years ago are still happening now- volcanoes, erosion, earthquakes, etc.
What did Lyell propose that describe how organisms change The process of earth change the structure of earth which can change organisms.
What did Malthus predict if Earths population continued to grow Sooner or later there would be insigificant living space and food for everyone.
