Meiosis

TermDefinition
Meiosis – two cell divisions that produces cells that are different from the parent and have half the normal number of chromosomes
sex cells sperm and egg made by meiosis.
Monoploid (n) half the normal number of chromosomes
Diploid 2n the normal number of chromosomes
Fertilization when sperm and egg meet.
Gametogenesis making of sex cells (sperm and egg)
Spermatogenesis making of sperm in the testes
Oogenesis making of eggs in the ovaries.
Internal fertilization takes place inside the body
External fertilization – takes place outside the body
