DNA Extraction Exp.

QuestionAnswer
Step 1 add salt, washing up liquid and water to a graduated cylinder
Step 2 chop up piece of onion
Step 3 mix chopped onion and salt-detergent solution in a beaker
Step 4 place in a water bath at 60deg for 15 minutes
Step 5 Place in an ice-bath for 5 minutes
Step 6 Blend the solution for no more that three seconds
Step 7 Filter the solution for through filter paper and a funnel
Step 8 Put some solution in a testube and add a few drops of protease enzyme
Step 9 Gently pour icecold ethanol ontop of the onion solution - dna should appear at the interface between the two solutions
Step 10 The Dna can be seen on a glass rod
