Describe how Natural selection on single-gene traits can lead to changes in allele frequencies and thus to evolution. The colors of a species that can be seen the most by predators making that color of the species extinct. But when the color blends in with the environment they aren't eaten as much, making them survive more.
Describe what is meant by directional selection. When individuals at one end of the curve have fitness than individuals in the middle or at the other direction selection takes place.
Describe what impact stabilizing selection has on a population. The affect is that it causes more of the trait that is in the middle to occur more frequently.
Describe what impact disrupting selection has on a population. Cause intermediate-trait organisms to reproduce less, while allowing extreme-trait organisms to reproduce more.
Define genetic drift. Random changes in allele frequency
Describe how a founder effect can happen. A situation in which allele frequencies change as a result of the migration of a small subgroup of a population
State the Hardy-Weinberg Principle. Allele frequencies in a population will remain constant unless one or more factors cause those frequencies to change.
How do you know when a population hits genetic equilibrium? When all the allele frequencies remain constant
