What did Darwin’s Travels reveal about the number and variety of living species? the diversity of living species was far greater than he had previously known.
What is evolution? the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth.
Why is evolution referred to as a theory? A theory is an idea about how something in nature works that has gone through rigorous testing through observations and experiments designed to prove the idea right or wrong.
Evolution the gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex form.
Theory a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained.
HMS Beagle the ship in which the naturalist, Charles Darwin, sailed around the world from 26 December 1831 to 27 February 1832
Fossils the remains or impression of a prehistoric organism preserved in petrified form or as a mold or cast in rock.
