What are Gametes? sex cell containing the haploid chromosome number (one set of chromosomes)
What are Seminiferous Tubules? very narrow tubes in the testes in which sperm cells are produced
What are testes? male sex organs responsible for the production of sperm
Where are interstitial cells found? cells in testes found between seminiferous tubules
Where is testosterone produced? steroid hormone produced by interstitial cells
What does testosterone do? stimulates sperm production
What do interstitial cells do? produce testosterone
What is the job of seminal vesicles? produces fluid that makes up part of the semen
What is the job of the prostate gland? gland producing fluid that forms part of the semen
What are ovaries? female sex organ in which ova are produced
What is a follicle? cluster of cells in the ovary that matures to release an ovum
What are oviducts? fine tube connecting an ovary to the uterus; location of fertilisation
What is a zygote? fertilised egg cell
What is fertilisation? fusion of sperm nucleus and egg nucleus
Where does fertilisation occur? occurs in the oviduct
